People Can’t Drink Oil!

by Thomas Frank & Beverly Keys

“People Can’t Drink OIL!” is the second Pipelines and Borderlines portfolio and focuses on the destination at the end of the tar sands pipeline originating in Alberta Canada: the BP Refinery in Whiting Indiana on Lake Michigan. British Petroleum has expanded this massive oil refinery to handle heavy tar sands crude oil. BP dumps toxic waste water into Lake Michigan, the source of drinking water for millions. This dumping combined with BP’s abysmal record including the worst oil spill in American history, should keep all of us up at night.

The outstanding prints I have the pleasure of bringing to public are from hand-pulled editions of 35 on 15” x 22” graphic heavyweight paper.

I’m inspired by decades of political printmaking in Latin America and its ability to reach everyday people. I believe art has the power to spread awareness of important social and environmental issues.
